Best practices for cleaning computer mice

Below are our recommended practices for cleaning computer mice. We also encourage you to check out the Center for Disease Control and Prevention page for cleaning and disinfecting.

  • Switch off and/or unplug your mouse before cleaning. Wait at least 5 seconds after unplugging your mouse before you begin cleaning.
  • Use Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for cleaning. When cleaning your mouse, gently rub exposed external surfaces. Be careful not to be too forceful when cleaning to avoid damaging your mouse.
  • Keep moisture to a minimum. To avoid water damage, make sure liquid does not drip into your mouse during cleaning.
