Memory: Enable RGB control through third-party software (Armoury Crate)
Enable RGB control through third-party software
(Armoury Crate)
Corsair recently introduced a new function through the iCue software for all supported Corsair RGB Memory and Asus’ motherboards.
The new iCue function is called “Device Control Service” and it is a toggle to allow Asus Armoury Crate to take the RGB control of Corsair RGB Memory.
Here is how to enable it.
- Download Corsair iCue and Corsair RGB Memory Plugin for ASUS AURA SYNC from Corsair’s website. Also, download Asus’ Armoury Crate.
Here you have 2 options depending on your needs. You can install or not iCue.
Installing only the plugin (without iCue)
- Let us see how it works without installing iCue first.
- Install Corsair RGB Memory Plugin for ASUS AURA SYNC and Asus Armoury Crate.
- Open Armoury Crate and select the “Device” menu from the left pane. Select your motherboard model and then the “Addressable Headers” tab. Click the “Rescan” button at the top right corner.
- Once the scan is completed select the “Aura Sync” option from the left pane. Now, you should be able to see a new device called “Memory”.
- Navigate to the “Aura Effects” tab at the top of the page and now you will be able to control your Corsair RGB memories through Asus Armoury Crate.
That is all, you are done! Simple and easy!
Third-party RGB control with iCue installed
- Now let us see how the memory RGB control is possible if you want to have iCue installed.
- Install Corsair iCue, Corsair RGB Memory Plugin for ASUS AURA SYNC and Asus Armoury Crate.
- Open iCue, select your memories tile and click on the “Settings” icon. Here you should see an option called "Device Control Service”. By selecting the “On” option you are allowing Armoury Crate to control your RGB lighting on your memories.
- Now you need to open Armoury Crate, same as when you did not have iCue installed, select Device from the left pane and select your motherboard.
- Navigate to the “Addressable Headers” tab and click the “Rescan” button at the top right corner.
- Once the scan is completed select the “Aura Sync” option from the left pane. Now, you should be able to see a new device called “Memory”.
- Navigate to the “Aura Effects” tab at the top of the page and now you will be able to control your Corsair RGB memories through Asus Armoury Crate.
Now, you are all set, and you can have both Corsair iCue and Armoury Crate installed.
Here are some tips that might help you if you are installing both Corsair iCue and Armoury Crate.
- In case you forgot to change the “Device Control Service” option to “On” from Corsair iCue and you clicked “Rescan” in Armoury Crate, a pop-up message will show in iCue requesting access to the “Device Control Service”. By clicking “Approve” you allow third-party software such as Armoury Crate to control your memories’ lighting effects.
- When you toggle the “Device Control Service” option to “On” a message at the bottom left corner will be shown. It will be there to remind you that you have given access to third-party software to control your lighting effects. By clicking “Revert Control” you revoke that access.
Re-enabling Armoury Crate’s RGB control after iCue is uninstalled
- In case you decide to uninstall iCue you will still be able to control the memory lighting effects from Armoury Crate. Although, make sure that after uninstalling iCue you need to reinstall Corsair RGB Memory Plugin for ASUS AURA SYNC. Even if it is still installed in your Apps, you still need to reinstall it.
