How to: Fix low volume issue with microphones
If your headset microphone is having an issue with low volume, try the following steps.
- Check microphone volume level
- Use the Mic Boost feature in iCUE
- Changing to DVD quality
- Fixing volume issues in Discord
Check microphone volume level
The first thing you want to do is check your microphone volume level in the sound settings.
- Right-click the Volume icon in your system taskbar.
- Click Open Sound settings.
- Click Device Properties in the Input section.
- Check your microphone level and see if it is set too low.
Use the Mic Boost feature in iCUE
All iCUE-compatible CORSAIR headsets can use the Mic Boost feature in iCUE to increase the gain of the microphone. You can read more about Mic Boost by reading this help article.
Make sure your iCUE software is updated to the latest version and that your CORSAIR headset is being detected by iCUE.
Select your headset in iCUE, then click Device Settings. You should see a Mic Boost slider; use the slider and see if your low volume issue is resolved.
Changing to DVD quality
Changing the sound settings to DVD quality may be able to fix your microphone volume issue.
- Right-click the Volume button on your system taskbar.
- Click Open Sound settings.
- Click Device properties in the Input section.
- Make sure your headset is selected in the dropdown menu.
- Click Additional device properties on the right side.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Select DVD Quality in the Default Format section.
Fixing volume issues in Discord
If you are experiencing low volume issues when using Discord, go to the sound settings in Discord and click Reset Voice Settings. This should fix your microphone volume issue.
